Das gedruckte Bild – The Printed Image

The Museum of East Asian Art, founded in 1909, is opening up a new chapter in its history. After more than a hundred years, the collection of Japanese woodblock prints and illustrated books, comprising some 2,000 items, has been inspected and  arranged for the first time. The result of this pioneering work is an exhibition which does more than celebrate the famous masters that everyone knows. The impressive diversity of the collection shows the Japanese woodblock print as the medium of a groundbreaking modern information culture.
