GratisWe are happy to announce that on Sunday May 26th, Prof. Ayami Nakatani will give an online lecture about a very actual topic, elderly care in light of the increasing aging of Japan.
“Avoiding ‘self-perceived meiwaku’: Japanese elderly care in a comparative perspective”
Professor Ayami Nakatani (D.Phil. 1996, University of Oxford) is a renowned anthropologist at Kwansei Gakuin University, who until recently worked for 28 years at Okayama University, where she also served as Vice President. Her research concern is extensive, but has mainly focused on the issues of gender and work; more recently, she has been researching elderly care in Japan and the Netherlands, and the use of plant resources in Indonesia. Her recent publications include Fashionable traditions: Asian Handmade Textiles in Motion (edited by Nakatani, Lexington Books, 2020).
The lecture will be given in English. The lecture is free of charge for both members and non-members. Registration is required, please see below. On Saturday, May 25th, the Zoom link will be emailed during the day.
